Did you know that the gas that comes out of your hob doesn’t actually have a smell and the smell is just added for safety purposes? And do you know that the smell for the entire country’s gas supply is manufactured by a brilliant local chemical business in West Bromwich, Robinson Brothers?
I was delighted to visit the company with Richard Parker for West Mids Mayor.
They are a huge Black Country success story - creating jobs and apprenticeship opportunities in the local area since 1869!
Our mayoral candidate Richard Parker told us his plan to support SMEs in our region and he reiterated his pledge to open a mayoral office in the Black Country, which is extremely welcome.
Robinson Brothers, like so many manufacturing companies, have been hit really hard by energy price spikes. We also discussed Labour’s plan to create a publicly-owned ‘Great British Energy’ company that produces cheaper and greener energy for our communities and our business so we don’t have to rely on oil and gas from abroad.
